My pick to win the US Open this year is Nadal and while this may not come as a surprise I can't really see anyone except maybe Djokovic upsetting him. Since the clay court season began Nadal has dominated this year just like Federer used to he's won almost everything and he doesn't seem to be slowing down either. I took a look at his draw for the Open and it looks really good especially in the early rounds. The fourth round is where things could heat up if he has to face Berdych, potentially followed by a quarter final meeting with Blake. Although both players are big hitters neither one has ever been passed the quarter-finals of a major. Yeah, it looks like all of the stars are lining up perfectly for Nadal this year.
As for the other half of the draw. Federer, has a pretty good draw, Stepanek, Verdasco and Gasquet are all in his part of the draw. Because Federer has been so off his game lately I'm not going to speculate on how far he gets. I think he'll give the US Open his best try but who knows how far that will get him.
Djokovic's draw looks pretty easy although there are a few players that could give him trouble.
Tsonga and Safin are both in his part of the draw and if they have a good day either one could upset him.
